How to Initiate a Conference Call

You can either be the CONFERENCE HOST or a CONFERENCE PARTICIPANT.

As a Conference Host you need to:

1. Dial 9009000 from your TelFree number e.g. 8775xxxxx
2. When the Conference IVR voice prompts you, select 2 to set up the conference.
3. At the voice prompt, enter your TelFree number (877xxxxx), then at the prompt enter the default password "1234"

As a Conference Participant you need to:

1. Dial 9009000 from your TelFree number.
2. When the Conference IVR voice prompts you select 1 to be a participant.
3. At the prompt, enter the host's TelFree number (8775xxxxx), then at the prompt enter the default password "1234"

NB: The conferencing feature is only available to our subscribers who pay a monthly service fee

The Personal Conferencing Feature is included in your TelFree monthly service subscription and free to TelFree participants to the conference. However, a small user fee is charged to the host account at 0.05 units per minute, per participant, for the duration of the conference.

Setting your account to conference call more than four numbers

To host a conference you will need a TelFree subscription. Your account is automatically active to conference call up to four people at any time. If you require a greater number of conference participants please email customerservices@telfree.co.za and request that additional participants be added to your account.

Note: As a host you can include other participants to the conference by simply dialing their phone number followed by "#". For participants without a TelFree 087 number simply dial their number (for international calls see the correct Telfree prefix explained under the Call Rates tab above) followed by "#".

Host call costs

If a host calls non TelFree participants to join a conference, the host will carry the costs for these calls at the billing rate applicable their TelFree subscription. This is in addition to the low conference hosting fees. TelFree subscribers called by the host will not incur costs and participants who call into the conference will not incur costs to the host's account. (i.e. only calls outside the TelFree network will incur charges for the person placing the call).
